Editorial mission
Panama Expat Finance publishes practical, verified guides on banking, residency, and taxes for foreigners moving to or living in Panama. We write for people making real decisions with real money and real deadlines — not for search engines.
How we source our guides
When a guide covers a regulated process, we cite the primary source directly: the Codigo Fiscal and DGI (Direccion General de Ingresos) rulings for taxes, and Gaceta Oficial decrees plus SNM (Servicio Nacional de Migracion) regulations for residency routes. Each of those articles names the specific law, article, or decree it relies on.
When a guide documents a practical process rather than a legal rule — like opening a bank account — we say so, and describe what actually happens at the counter, not what a bank's marketing page claims.
Corrections policy
Regulations and bank policies change. If you find something in a guide that's out of date or wrong, tell us and we'll verify it and correct the article.
Who writes this
Felix Enrique Pelicot Cordoba is Panamanian, born and raised in Panama. Before founding Panama Expat Finance, he worked in paper distribution; today he builds automation, AI, and web development services. He brings the project a native, inside understanding of how Panama's systems actually work — banking, culture, day-to-day process — and verifies every guide against the primary regulatory source (DGI, SNM, Gaceta Oficial).
