Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, how Google's advertising and analytics tools fit in, and what rights you have over your own data.

Effective date: July 15, 2026Last updated: July 15, 2026

Panama Expat Finance ("we," "us," or "this site") publishes educational content about banking, residency, and tax topics for expats in Panama. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit panamaexpatfinance.com, how it's used, and how you can control it.

01

What data we collect

We collect information in two ways: automatically, through cookies and similar technologies, and through tools we use to understand how the site is used.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device. We use cookies, and allow our third-party partners to use cookies, for purposes including:

  • Essential cookies — needed for basic site functionality.
  • Analytics cookies — used by Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, time on page, general location at a country/region level, device and browser type).
  • Advertising cookies — used by Google AdSense and its partners to serve and measure ads, described in detail in Section 03 below.

Information collected via Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect aggregated, non-identifying usage data: which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, what device and browser they use, approximate geographic location (typically city or region level, derived from IP address), and how visitors arrived at the site (search engine, direct visit, referral link).

Information you provide directly

If this site adds a contact form, newsletter signup, or comment feature in the future, we will collect only the information you choose to submit (such as your name and email address) for the specific purpose stated at the point of collection.

02

How we use this data

We use the data described above to:

  • Understand which content is useful so we can improve our guides and prioritize new topics.
  • Diagnose technical issues and improve page loading speed and mobile usability.
  • Measure how visitors find the site (organic search, referrals) to guide our content strategy.
  • Support the display of advertising that keeps this site free to read, as described in Section 03.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use analytics data to individually identify you, and we do not combine it with any information you might submit directly (such as a contact form) unless required for a specific purpose we've clearly stated to you.

03

Google AdSense and third-party advertising

This site displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visitingGoogle's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visitingwww.aboutads.info.

Third-party vendors, including Google, may show our ads on sites across the internet, and third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on someone's prior visits to this website. This means Google and its partners may use information (not including your name, address, email address, or phone number) about your visits to this and other sites to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you.

04

Other third-party services

Beyond Google Analytics and Google AdSense, this site loads fonts from Google Fonts and its front-end framework (Tailwind CSS) from a public content delivery network. These services may log standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type as part of delivering their content, under their own respective privacy policies.

We do not control third-party websites linked from our content (such as government registries, banks, or law firms we reference) and are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.

05

Your rights over your data

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:

  • Access — request confirmation of what data we hold about you.
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Deletion — request deletion of personal data you've submitted to us directly.
  • Opt-out of personalized advertising — via the Google and industry opt-out tools linked in Section 03.
  • Cookie control — most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings; blocking essential cookies may affect site functionality.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law (such as California), you may have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or applicable state law, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 07.

06

Data retention & children's privacy

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' default retention settings unless otherwise configured. Any information you submit to us directly is retained only as long as needed for the purpose you provided it.

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

07

Changes to this policy & contact

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
